Friends of Lake Overholser and the Stinchcomb Wildlife Refuge Organizational Meeting

The farm lands from the northeast corner of the intersection of NW 39th Expressway (Old US 66, now OK 66) and the John Kilpatrick Turnpike northeast to the Stinchcomb Wildlife Refuge which follows the North Canadian River is starting to be acquired by developers.

This is a sensitive area in that it drains into the North Canadian River immediately upstream from two of Oklahoma City’s water storage reservoirs, Lake Hefner and Lake Overholser. We have been dedicated to preserving Lake Hefner and now a new group is forming to protect Lake Overholser and the Stinchcomb Wildlife Refuge.

Like the Friends of Lake Hefner (FoLH), this new organization is not against progress or development but seeks to protect an important environmental area in the Oklahoma City Metroplex.

The organizational meeting for the FLO+SWR (my acronym, not theirs) will be held at the Route 66 Boathouse located at NW 31st and East Overholser Drive on Saturday, February 23rd, at 2:00 p.m. No furnture so please bring your own chair!
