Spring Update

We are planning a Lake Clean-Up on Saturday March 16th. I’ve looked around and that date doesn’t seem to conflict with too many local recreational events. If you know of something I’ve missed that could be a major conflict please let me know this week. I’ll firm this event by next week’s FoLH meeting.

Trees: The bad news is that the drought will likely continue through the spring and summer. The good news is that a local company has donated a good truck to FoLH so watering will be much less of a chore in the future. I’m suggesting that we donate the old truck to one of the charities that accepts vehicles but if you have a better idea please share it.

I’m sure everyone is aware by now that Oklahoma City is taking 30,000 acre feet of water from Canton to partially refill Lake Hefner . While this won’t have much impact on reviving keel boating, smaller craft and fishing should benefit.

The City has decided to forego charging for wet slips for the upcoming year and is encouraging those of you with boats aground in the wet slips to try and haul them while the water is up from the Canton release. The maximum water height should occur about mid-March so please check your mooring lines every few days and make plans if you want to pull your boat.
